Reporting to the Service Delivery Head, the Technical Service Specialist- Life Sciences is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining consistent practices, training, procedures, and expert guidance within a designated area of technical expertise across the University. As part of the Central Operations Services PSU, TSS plays a key role in advancing a world-class technical services operating model that supports the University's global competitiveness. The role also involves identifying, coordinating, and implementing initiatives and career development opportunities aligned with both partnership and University-wide strategic objectives. Your key responsibilities will be to: support TSS teams in identifying, assessing, negotiating, and prioritising their current and future TSS service requirements in relation to appointed Technical Domain Partner with the local TSS teams and Health and Safety professional services unit to review and improve local systems and processes and support implementation of the safety management system for relevant Technical Domain support a customer service culture in accordance with the TSS service excellence strategy. Set and promote best practice standards for customer interactions maintain an operational and resource overview of activities related to Technical Domain resources within the University, including equipment, laboratory spaces, projects, research, and key researchers through the proactive engagement of relevant stakeholders develop, review and support implementation of systems, policies, procedures and practices within the technical domain support the management of risk and compliance requirements across TSS managed spaces. As such, we see the importance of recruiting talent aligned to these values and are looking for a Technical Service Specialist – Life Sciences who has: tertiary qualifications within Life Sciences and/or an equivalent combination of relevant training and experience experience in designing and supporting the delivery of technical space and services experience in the definition of required mechanical/electrical infrastructure, equipment, in technical spaces experience in developing, reviewing, and implementing systems, policies, procedures and practices experience in defining, delivering and working with staff to promote engagement, support for process change and acting as a champion for benefits and delivery of the required change outcomes strong communication abilities with outstanding negotiating and conflict resolution skills and a demonstrated level of tact and discretion in dealing with a variety of matters practical experience of providing safety advice including performing risk assessments and developing safe work procedures with a demonstrated understanding of relevant legislation, Australian Standards, and guidelines.
