What you need to know about the role Our Operations and Outreach Lead will think systematically about our organisational needs, and adapt and develop processes and plans to help us achieve our aims. You will also play a role inspiring and motivating people in our network and beyond, with caring and supportive engagement. We’re looking to recruit an enthusiastic and energetic individual, who is able to work collaboratively internally and externally and support both staff and community leaders to do their best work. The person we’re looking for understands and values grassroots campaigning and leadership. You would bring a collaborative ethic that centres the courage and cooperation that helps Lock the Gate achieve our goals. The role is a full time role with an initial 12 month contract term with the likelihood of extension. LOCATION We are flexible as to where this role will be based in Australia and will consider applicants from anywhere in Australia. The role will be work from home and the successful applicant will need good quality and reliable communication links. Key responsibilities Oversee organisational development in collaboration with the Board and the National Coordinators; Support organisational systems and tools to maximise the effectiveness of our teams Conduct outreach to stakeholders, communities and donors where appropriate; Represent Lock the Gate at meetings and events and in relevant communications including social media; Oversee governance, policy and risk management and provide dedicated Board support; Ensure organisational compliance with relevant State and Federal legislation, including ACNC standards Oversee operational support staff and processes, including recruitment, human resources, workplace health and safety, training, fundraising and organisational reporting; Prioritise and promote staff wellbeing and a warm, collaborative culture throughout our organisation and the movement; Work with National Coordinators and Operational Coordinator to develop annual budgets and to monitor progress to budget including processes for tracking expenditure. Essential criteria Experience with grassroots campaigning, ideally in environmental or extractive industry campaigning; At least two years’ experience in a leadership role, preferably in not-for-profit and/or public interest advocacy; Extensive experience in meeting facilitation and project management; Experience in strategy development; Experience in creating and meeting budgets; Exceptional interpersonal communication skills; Excellent verbal and written communication skills; Demonstrated commitment to cooperative work environments & success in working in teams; Understanding of compliance frameworks and legislation relevant to not-for-profits; Commitment to the values and mission of Lock the Gate Alliance.
