Your Opportunity With three services ( Kingston House , People Staying Connected , and Tailored Support Coordination Service ) reporting to the Program Manager, this role is varied, exciting and ready for you to showcase your values-based leadership skills. This is an on-site position based in Hobart and will cover three locations. The role will attract a positive and strong community practitioner with significant experience in the Youth and Family services sector. The successful applicant will be responsible for leading, managing and developing diverse, multi-disciplinary teams across the services, ensuring the effective and regular provision of line management and supervision of up to 16 staff. You will be responsible for the performance of services, reporting on outcomes and offer a level of autonomy that will require a high level of organisational, teamwork, collaboration and communication skills, and occasionally requires flexibility, responsiveness, and the ability to pivot quickly. Supported by an Area Manager, you will ensure program excellence, strong stakeholder engagement, and a values-driven workplace culture that fosters safety, inclusion and impact. There is a requirement to be on call for one week in a rotating roster of three weeks. Your Key Responsibilities Lead and develop a high-performing, client-focused team, ensuring alignment with Mission Australia values and policies. Manage program operations across multiple sites, ensuring compliance with funding KPIs, contractual obligations, and service standards. Monitor budgets and financial performance, authorising expenditure and contributing to financial planning and reporting. Build and maintain effective stakeholder relationships, representing Mission Australia at meetings with funders, partners, and community leaders. Provide timely, accurate reporting and feedback to the Area Manager, addressing risks, opportunities, and service escalations. Oversee recruitment, onboarding, supervision, performance management, and development of staff and volunteers. Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to strategic planning to enhance program outcomes and sustainability. Adopt a culturally safe service that considers the physical, spiritual, cultural, emotional and social wellbeing of First Nations people. Requirements for Success Relevant tertiary qualifications and substantial experience leading teams in complex community service environments. Proven ability to manage programs to budget, meet KPIs, and ensure compliance with contractual and organisational requirements. Strong leadership and people management skills with a values-based, servant leadership approach. Demonstrated ability to build effective stakeholder relationships and represent Mission Australia with professionalism. Comfortable working in ambiguous, fast-paced environments with competing priorities and 24/7 service requirements. High-level communication, time management, and problem-solving skills, including experience handling escalations and crisis-driven scenarios. A solid understanding of cultural protocols and experience working with diverse communities, ideally with a youth service background. First Aid Certificate is desired.
