Description The Opportunity An opportunity has become available for an Associate to work in our Energy & Utilities team and commence working on the CopperString project. CopperString 2032 is a major infrastructure project aimed at constructing a high-voltage electricity transmission line from Mount Isa to Townsville, QLD, with QIC being appointed to oversee the delivery of this project. Key Responsibilities Assist with asset management responsibilities which include liaising on key business issues, preparing for board meetings, interacting with management, updating internal monitoring dashboards, assistance on quarterly valuations and client reporting responsibilities. Lead financial analysis (including financial modelling, sensitivity and scenario analysis). Lead valuation analysis (with respect to new opportunities and assisting with the co-ordination of periodic independent valuations of the portfolio assets). Assist with investment review and risk analysis (including assisting with logging opportunities and providing an initial recommendation to the team as to whether the opportunity should be pursued further). Assist with investment due diligence (including attending management meetings, review of materials, numerical analysis of investment performance, appointment and management of external consultants and advisers, preparation of Investment Recommendations, due diligence across market, commercial, legal, tax, accounting, insurance and technical). Develop and maintain relationships within the industry, including investment banks, fund managers, independent valuers, consultants and peer institutional investors. Monitor sector, market and economic conditions and assess their impact on client infrastructure portfolios. Assist with developing and building a cohesive and productive QIC Infrastructure team. Building of detailed sector knowledge for selected infrastructure subsectors. About You Qualifications & Experience Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Commerce, Economics, Business or Finance. Financial, commercial and/or operational experience within an infrastructure advisory (e.g. investment banking) or principal investing firm. Candidate from consultancy firms may also be considered if sufficient financial modelling skills have been developed. Skills Collaborative work style and the ability to work autonomously. Strong numerical and analytical skills in financial modelling and performance tracking. Project participation, prioritisation, and time management skills. Understanding of the M&A execution process and investment due diligence. Ability to prepare structured investment recommendations and board papers. Commercial acumen to identify and analyse key business issues and opportunities. Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships. Advanced Microsoft Excel and intermediate Word and PowerPoint skills.
