We are seeking a talented and motivated paralegal to join our legal team, supporting key contract management, legal operations, and compliance functions across the organization. Role Overview We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Paralegal to assist our legal team with contract review, contract management, and general legal operations. The successful candidate will work closely with legal professionals to help ensure the institution’s legal compliance, manage risks, and facilitate smooth legal operations across the university. This is an excellent opportunity for a law student in the final stages of their legal studies to gain valuable hands-on experience in a real-world, academic setting. The role offers flexibility, with an expected commitment of 3 days per week for the next 3 months. Key Responsibilities Contract Review & Drafting: Assist with reviewing, drafting, and editing contracts and agreements, ensuring compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. Contract Management: Maintain up-to-date records of contracts, track key dates (e.g., renewals, deadlines, and obligations), and assist with contract execution. Legal Operations Support: Provide general administrative and operational support to the legal department, including document management, legal research, and compliance tracking. Research & Reporting: Conduct legal research to assist with contract negotiations, dispute resolution, and other legal matters, providing clear and concise reports for senior legal staff. Administrative Support: Provide day-to-day administrative support to the legal team, including preparing correspondence, managing legal files, and coordinating meetings or consultations. Ideal Candidate Educational Background: Currently in the final years of a law degree or equivalent, with a strong academic record. Experience: Previous legal industry experience is highly desirable, ideally gained at a top-tier law firm or in-house legal department. Experience in contract law or legal operations would be an advantage. Skills & Abilities: Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and drafting skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and legal document management systems. Knowledge of Australian contract law and legal compliance is a plus.
