The firm advises public and private hospitals, healthcare professionals, insurers and medical defence organisations on sensitive and complex claims, investigations and coronial inquests. Known for its practical approach, strong mentoring, and client-focused delivery, the firm has a growing national footprint and a dynamic, high-performing litigation team. About the Role As an Associate or Senior Associate, you will manage a portfolio of health liability claims including professional negligence, public liability, and catastrophic injury matters. You will advise on medical negligence, coronial investigations, disciplinary proceedings, and risk management. The role includes direct client engagement, supervision of junior lawyers, and collaboration with experts across health, insurance, and dispute resolution. You’ll work with a highly regarded partner who leads complex, sensitive litigation involving both public health authorities and private providers. Key Responsibilities Manage and advise on health liability, public liability and professional indemnity claims Represent clients in court proceedings, coronial inquests and regulatory inquiries Draft pleadings, evidence summaries, and detailed legal advice for insurers and health clients Advise on risk, liability, quantum and indemnity issues across complex medical matters Liaise with insured clients, expert witnesses, and counsel Mentor junior staff and contribute to team development Practice Focus Health and medical negligence litigation Professional indemnity and insurance defence Coronial inquests and disciplinary matters Risk management and regulatory investigations Public health, hospitals, and private healthcare clients Candidate Profile 3–7 years’ post-admission experience in insurance, health liability, or general liability litigation Experience with medical negligence, public liability, or complex personal injury matters Strong drafting, client communication and matter management skills Ability to manage sensitive claims and work closely with insured professionals Previous experience acting for hospitals, government, or insurers highly regarded What’s on Offer Work alongside national leaders in health liability litigation High-impact matters involving hospitals, government, and private health clients Supportive team environment with excellent mentoring and client exposure Strong development opportunities within a fast-growing national firm Competitive remuneration and flexible hybrid working arrangements How to Apply Claim Experience: Outline the nature of liability or indemnity matters you’ve managed.
