THE COMPANY Our client is the largest investor in Australian agriculture by a significant margin, having built an unprecedented portfolio of direct investments in large-scale, production-focused agricultural assets. Backed by significant capital and a strong appetite for continued expansion, the business is now seeking to appoint a strategically minded investment professional to play a key role in evaluating and executing future M&A opportunities. THE ROLE This hands-on role offers the chance to shape the long-term direction of a platform that continues to set the benchmark for scale, performance, and innovation in the sector. Working closely with the executive team, this role is responsible for leading investment analysis, transaction execution, and strategic evaluation of new acquisitions and divestments. The role will drive the end-to-end deal process – including financial modelling, due diligence, investment memorandum preparation, contract negotiation, and integration planning. Alongside transaction activity, the role will also contribute to broader strategy by supporting the analysis of operational and investment performance across the portfolio, and through the development of bespoke modelling tools to guide investment decisions. Key responsibilities include : Managing end-to-end transaction processes including investment modelling, valuation, and due diligence; Preparing high-quality investment memorandums and board papers for executive and shareholder review; Leading commercial negotiations and managing external advisers across legal, tax, and finance disciplines; Conducting market analysis, benchmarking, and competitor research to inform portfolio strategy; Designing analytical tools and bespoke models to assess operational performance and guide investment decisions; Providing strategic recommendations to the executive and board that are grounded in robust financial analysis; Monitoring major capital investment projects to ensure alignment with commercial objectives. Candidate Profile The ideal candidate will have a minimum 4 years of experience in M&A, corporate finance or private equity, with advanced financial modelling skills and the ability to manage multiple complex transactions concurrently. Prior exposure to agribusiness or real asset sectors is required, as well as excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to distil complex financial information into actionable strategic insights. Tertiary qualifications in finance, economics, or accounting are required, with CFA, CA, or CPA credentials highly regarded.
