Workfast is looking for a hands-on and reliable Mechanical Trade Assistant/ Apprentice Mechanical Fitter to join the workshop team of a leading engineering company in Chipping Norton . Location: Chipping Norton, NSW Pay Rate: $37.50 per hour Overtime Super Hours: Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm Start Date: ASAP This is a hands-on role involving support with the overhaul, testing, and certification of air brake components used in diesel-electric locomotives. The position offers consistent full-time hours and the potential to transition into a permanent role . What You’ll Be Doing Assist with the overhaul and assembly of air brake components used in rail applications Use hand and power tools to clean, strip, and prep mechanical parts Maintain a safe and organised workshop environment Support fitters with disassembly and reassembly work Follow instructions from tradespeople and workshop supervisors Conduct visual inspections and basic mechanical tasks as directed About You Previous experience as a Trade Assistant or in a mechanical/industrial workshop Currently enrolled in or ready to begin a Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship Comfortable using hand and power tools Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail Physically fit and able to handle manual work Safety-conscious and reliable What You Get $37.50 per hour super overtime Monday to Friday, 6:00am – 2:30pm Temp to perm opportunity for the right candidate Clean, professional workshop environment Immediate start available Join a supportive and experienced mechanical team About us Workfast is a labour-hire company working with some of Australia's largest and leading building companies.
