These roles offer a unique opportunity to shape the future of housing across metropolitan and regional NSW – contributing to essential housing outcomes for the state. With a portfolio of over 125,000 properties , our planning work spans development assessment, strategic rezoning, and precinct planning. You will work on projects that directly support communities and help deliver 1,300 new homes per year . About the Roles 1. Development Assessment – (2 x positions) Manage and assess self-determined development applications (under Part 4, with some Part 5 experience desirable) Provide planning input into design and delivery for construction and refurbishment projects Prepare Statements of Environmental Effects (SEE) and Reviews of Environmental Factors (REF) Lead a portfolio of 10–15 active projects Support project managers with planning advice, approvals, and regulatory guidance 2. Strategic & Precinct Planning – (1 x postion) Work on precinct-level planning proposals and rezoning to enable new housing projects Assist with strategic pipeline planning to support the delivery of 1,300 units annually Prepare and review Planning Proposals in collaboration with state and local agencies Contribute to master planning and urban design processes Occasional regional travel (approx. once per month) What We’re Looking For Tertiary qualifications in Urban Planning, Town Planning or related discipline (essential) 5–10 years' experience in planning roles, ideally in local government or consultancy Strong understanding of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act (Part 4 essential; Part 5 desirable) Experience in development assessments, planning proposals , or strategic land use planning Excellent report writing , stakeholder engagement, and project coordination skills GIS skills and/or dual qualifications (e.g. building certification, urban design) highly regarded Adaptability and initiative – comfortable with shifting priorities and fast-paced work Workplace & Flexibility Offices at 4 Parramatta Square (moving to 6 Parramatta Square) Flexible hybrid policy: 50% in-office attendance per month, including Tuesdays and Thursdays Occasional regional travel required – generally once per month, with overnight stays as needed Why Join Contribute to high-impact housing projects that support vulnerable communities Be part of a values-driven agency leading social housing reform Collaborate with a passionate, professional team committed to real-world results Competitive contract rates and flexibility to support work–life balance Checks required for this role: National Criminal Record Check 2x Reference Checks LAHC Deed of Confidentiality Sounds like you?
