Country Intellectual Property (IP) Lead Company: Boeing Australia Holdings Pty Ltd We are seeking a talented Country Intellectual Property (IP) Lead to support Boeing’s Australian-based subsidiaries (Boeing Defense Australia, Insitu Pacific, etc.). The position requires close collaboration and frequent communication across the Boeing enterprise including leaders within our engineering and technology divisions and all Business Units. The Country Intellectual Property (IP) Lead will work with the Boeing Intellectual Property (BIP) organisations’ Leadership Team, the Law Department, Engineering, and Business Unit Leaders as a country lead to ensure The Boeing Company is capturing, protecting, and enabling our patent portfolio and trade secrets. This individual plays a key role in the management of intellectual property and commercialization of Boeing products and services in the region. This role reports to the Executive IP Lead based in, Virginia, USA. Due to the International nature of the role and business as a whole, there may be the requirement to support after hours meetings and calls, however flexibility is encouraged. Responsibilities: Being the central point of contact for IP rights inquiries and protection advice Working with the businesses to ensure compliance with Boeing IP strategy and broader Boeing IP policies Developing and advising stakeholders on appropriate enterprise unified IP strategies to support and protect the business’ current and future objectives Leading and/or supporting IP contracted deliverables, such as IP schedules or related documentation, as appropriate Providing leadership and technical oversight of a local team of IP specialists Understanding enterprise level IP policy and procedure and enabling subsidiary compliance, including supporting the development and/or revision of local IP policy and procedure Assisting other functions, such as contracts, taxation and supply chain, with recommendations for IP ownership, IP licensing/transfer pricing, IP risk assessments, and understanding IP rights and obligations Advising the business on application of processes and tools for managing IP, including management of trade secrets and other proprietary information Monitoring changes in IP regulations and practices Developing and conducting general and country specific IP Training to strengthen IP awareness This position is ideally located in Brisbane, however dependent upon the successful candidate's location, may be based at our offices in Sydney, Adelaide, Newcastle or Melbourne. About You: Extensive knowledge of Intellectual Property (IP) rights and the legislated requirements and processes for protection; Experience developing IP strategies (protection and commercialization), policies, procedures and processes; Experience with providing technical support on patent strategy development, target portfolio development, patent portfolio management, portfolio mining; Experience with invention disclosure harvesting; Experience working with processes and procedures for creation of Intellectual Property (IP), rights, and the legal status of various forms of IP (e.g., patent prosecution and registration, trademark registration, copyright ownership, trade secret protection, etc.); Requires analytical skills, critical thinking, confidence and cross functional relationship building, strong communication, as well as a self-motivated and persuasive personality with a positive attitude. A global mindset and be willing to participate in international level strategy and meetings Experience with Australian defence contracting and ASDEFCON (preferred but not essential) Qualifications Bachelor's degree or higher in Engineering, Science and/or Law, or related field is preferred but not essential Qualified as a Patent Attorney is preferred but not essential, Experience/Skills Excellent business judgement and strategic thinking, with outstanding communication, organization, and interpersonal skills Ability to work on multiple work items and balance priorities whilst delivering to strict deadlines Ability to manage complex projects and a large volume of matters, meet deadlines, and prioritize as needed Eligibility Applicants must be a citizen to meet defence requirements, and either hold, or be eligible to obtain, an Australian defence security clearance.
