The Opportunity The Finance Advisory team in Canberra currently has two permanent vacancies at the Senior Consultant level. You’ll help government clients make smarter, more impactful decisions around funding allocation and financial management - ultimately driving better outcomes for communities across Australia. You’ll work with subject matter experts to strengthen financial capability, streamline and digitise finance functions, and deliver trusted insights that support strategic funding, reporting, and sustainability goals. Engagements range from 3-month projects to multi-year transformations, giving you exposure to diverse challenges without being pigeon-holed. At Scyne, their “People Before Business” approach means you can rotate off projects after six months to broaden your skills and explore new areas of interest. You’ll be supported by senior leaders, work in collaborative teams of four to eight, and have a dedicated People Lead focused on your development and wellbeing. The Role As a Senior Consultant, you will: Advising and supporting finance teams with accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, risk controls, and issue remediation Driving better financial outcomes through cost modelling, funding sustainability reviews, forecasting, business case evaluation, and commercial assurance Improving finance and corporate functions by redesigning operating models, enhancing processes and controls, and supporting digitisation and automation Enabling transformation and ERP delivery by contributing to finance transformation strategies, ERP implementation support, and contract optimisation during cloud transitions Building strong client relationships by acting as a trusted advisor, delivering timely financial insights, and proactively identifying opportunities to add value The Ideal Person You’re a purpose-driven finance professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about making a real difference in the public sector. To be successful, you will bring: Prior experience consulting into government A relevant degree in Finance, Accounting or a related field; a CA ANZ or CPA qualification is highly regarded Strong analytical skills and the ability to interpret financial data to drive insights and decision-making Experience in one or more of the following: cost modelling, management accounting or financial accounting Not sure if you tick every box?
