Position : Project Officer Start / Likely Duration : Anticipated dates from June to October 2025 Salary : $56.60 per hour (including casual loading) plus superannuation Location : Leichardt NSW Overview This is a fantastic short-term contract role where you’ll be right at the centre of operations, working closely with key stakeholders to deliver timely and professional project and administrative support. Primary Purpose of the Position We are seeking a proactive and highly organised individual to join a dynamic team as a Project Officer. In this role, you will provide project, policy, research, and administrative support and advice to the Mayor, Councillors, and the Governance & Risk team. This includes managing Councillor Requests from start to completion, coordinating reimbursements, and ensuring the smooth flow of communication between internal teams and the community. Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities: Ensure Councillor services such as mail and information requirements are attended to including searching for Council Resolutions Monitor Councillor inbox for requests and register requests in appropriate electronic document management system Track and manage Councillor Requests to ensure requests are responded to within 10 working days Liaise with Council staff to provide responses to request and track request in ECM Dataworks Create monthly reports of Councillor Requests Coordinate reimbursement of expenses and coordinate facilities in accordance with the Councillor Expenses and Facilities Policy Prepare and manage correspondence on behalf of Councillors Support the Civic and Executive Support Manager as required Assist in the effective delivery of administrative and research support services and projects for the Mayor and Councillors and ensure that all communication externally and internally is maintained and recorded in the appropriate way with a high level of customer service Work as part of the Team supporting the Mayor and Councillors Any other duties required to support the Civic and Executive Support group Desirable Criteria Experience in Local Government administration Experience registering documents in ECM Dataworks Essential Criteria Strong research and analytical skills Judgement and capacity to think strategically and develop creative solutions across a diverse range of Council issues and operations Excellent skills in using computer applications and the ability to adopt new technology Well-developed organisational and problem-solving skills with a capacity to undertake research Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal, liaison and negotiation abilities including the ability to build and maintain respectful relationships with staff at all levels and with external entities Ability to prioritise work, work under pressure and meet strict deadlines Demonstrated ability to deal with information with high sensitivity and confidentiality Understanding of local government functions, issues and local government political structure Strong customer focus with the ability to respectfully handle enquiries and resolve or refer complaints Appointments are subject to the following checks/ clearances: Reference checks National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014 Rights to Work in Australia All candidates are required to be fully COVID-19 vaccinated to apply for this role When applying for this role, please include a Word version of your resume (not PDF).
