The Leasehand is primarily responsible for housekeeping and providing job support to a variety of crew members around the rig. General Responsibilities General cleaning and housekeeping Preparation of the rig site including rigging up and down Preparing and packing vehicles and equipment ready for work Assist Crew with maintenance of rig equipment and tubulars Assist in movement of equipment about the rig and between the rig and transport loads Assist the drilling crew as directed in measurement, labelling and recording detail of casing and drill pipe Assist the drill crew as directed in rigging up, rigging down and running of blow out prevention (BOP) stack Work safely at all times and proactively report any unsafe condition or practice to supervisors Have a working knowledge of basic knots, splices, wire line sling handling and general rigging practices. Essential Experience and Attributes Previous Mining / Oil & Gas experience, ideally working as a Leasehand on drilling rigs or drillers offsider on mineral rigs Alternatively, experience as either a Labourer or Trades Assistant with strong mechanical aptitude Physically fit, with the ability to work in remote areas as part of a close-knit team Essential Qualifications Industry Safety Induction First Aid CPR Breathing Apparatus Confined Space Entry Gas Test and Monitoring Working At Heights Desirable Qualifications 4x4 Operate Vehicles in the Field Gotcha Kit (Heights Rescue Training) Trade certificates or completed trade prevocational studies
