The Data Center Construction Cost Control (Cost) team is part of a larger, highly creative and driven team dedicated to deploying our continuously evolving data center facilities. As a Construction Cost Manager, you will be an individual contributor acting as the in-house subject matter expert responsible for providing cost support, guidance and recommendations to the project delivery team to ensure cost management across a portfolio of fast paced construction projects. You will be involved in the full life cycle of construction project while working with motivated experts from design, construction, procurement, finance, and legal teams to deliver efficient and innovative data centers. You will help drive multimillion dollar projects across Asia Pacific, Japan, and China (APJC). This role is located in Melbourne. Key job responsibilities - Engaging and managing 3rd party Quantity Surveyors (QS), including assisting with procurement of QS firms, managing resource allocation, supporting regular QBRs with the vendors, reviewing and approving payment of invoices. - Supporting the preparation of operational plan budgets including detailed cost forecasting, benchmarking analysis and presentation to Leadership. - Providing the construction team with commercial support necessary for capital appropriation requests including consolidating commercial information to support requests to Leadership. - Validating external construction cost estimates at various stages of design process. - Supporting project teams on implementing procurement strategies and guidelines. - Supporting with the preparation of standardized General Contractor (GC) tender documents, support procurement teams with the tender process, participate in tender evaluations and development of the GC tender recommendation and appointment. - Leading post contract construction commercial management including providing guidance and recommendations on GC pay applications, change order evaluations, final account closeout, on projects. - Leading monthly cost reporting reviews, monitoring against approved capital requests throughout the PLC. - Identifying project risks and the financial cost impacts associated and communicate to the team. - Monitoring adherence against company expenditure limits and policy. - Deliver results for multiple projects with competing priorities. - Must be ok with approximately 25% Travel & Australian Citizenship is required Basic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in a related field - Experienced in construction cost control- reviewing and justifying budgets and estimates, utilizing cost data and metrics for analysis and reporting - Experience with estimating software such as CostX, Cubit and Bluebeam Preferred Qualifications - Strong construction knowledge, be able to dive deep into aspects of construction scope and understand the cost of core elements with a particular focus on Mechanical and Electrical costs - Experience with Data Center or other mission critical construction environments - RICS accreditation Acknowledgement of country: In the spirit of reconciliation Amazon acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of country throughout Australia and their connections to land, sea and community.
