Commercial Transactions Group The Commercial Transactions group provides transaction advisory services and advice on whole of State negotiations to Government. This includes identifying asset reform opportunities to optimise the State's balance sheet management; advising and implementing on commercial transactions and negotiations; and leading the implementation and delivery of government priorities related to social, affordable and market housing. About the role As the Director, Commercial Transaction you will set the strategic direction and priorities for your team, aligning with the expectations of the Executive Director, senior executives, and Government. You will lead a highly skilled team in delivering both policy development and the implementation of commercial and asset reform initiatives, building strong relationships with stakeholders across and beyond government to achieve successful outcomes. You will provide authoritative advice to senior leaders and Government, drawing on your policy expertise and commercial acumen. By fostering a supportive and results-driven environment, you will guide your team from concept through to delivery, leveraging commercial processes to develop and implement solutions that deliver real impact for the Department and the Victorian community. About you Exceptional analytic abilities in economics, finance, commercial and related fields, including a strong understanding of government service delivery objectives and priorities, and ability to provide creative and solution-oriented advice at a strategic level; Experience in managing competing priorities under tight deadlines and delivering development of business cases, economic cost benefit analysis, project evaluation and financial reporting, and navigating the machinery of Government; Proven track record taking policy development through to implementation and delivering projects, including through the use of commercial or quasi-commercial processes to achieve Government's policy objectives; Track record in building stakeholder relationships across government and in the private sector (including with partners participating in government initiatives) and working with external partners to achieve Government's policy objectives; Strong negotiation, influencing and communication skills (written and verbal) with a proven ability to engage strategically with senior stakeholders both inside and outside of Government; and Demonstrated leadership skills and experience in driving high performing teams and managing people. Experience and qualifications Extensive experience at a senior level in government and a comprehensive understanding of the workings of government. Extensive experience delivering policy, managing programs and managing resources in a complex environment requiring sound judgement and management of risk.
