About the Role We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Workers Compensation Lawyer to join our dynamic legal team in New South Wales. In this role, you will provide expert legal advice and representation in all aspects of workers compensation matters under NSW legislation, including Work Injury Damages (WID) claims, permanent impairment disputes, and statutory benefit matters. You will manage a diverse portfolio of cases, working closely with injured workers, employers, insurers, and medical experts to ensure fair and timely outcomes. This is a great opportunity for a lawyer passionate about helping clients navigate complex insurance schemes, advocating for injured parties or advising corporate clients on risk mitigation and claims management. Key Responsibilities Manage a varied caseload of workers compensation matters from initial instruction to resolution, including representation at the Personal Injury Commission (PIC) Provide strategic legal advice to clients on their rights, obligations, and entitlements under the NSW Workers Compensation Act and related legislation Draft and review pleadings, submissions, and evidence for hearings Negotiate settlements and attend mediations or conciliation conferences Liaise with clients, insurers, medical professionals, barristers, and other stakeholders Maintain accurate records and meet procedural and legislative deadlines Keep up to date with relevant legislation, case law, and procedural changes Contribute to team development, mentoring junior staff if applicable Skills and Experience Admitted as a solicitor in NSW and holding a current practising certificate 2–5 years of post-admission experience in workers compensation law (Plaintiff experience preferred) Strong understanding of the Workers Compensation Act 1987 (NSW), Workplace Injury Management and Workers Compensation Act 1998 (NSW), and relevant PIC procedures Experience managing a busy file load with minimal supervision Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills Strong attention to detail, time management, and file management skills Client-focused approach with empathy and professionalism Familiarity with legal practice management systems and digital litigation processes Benefits Competitive salary and performance-based incentives Flexible working arrangements and WFH options Ongoing professional development and CPD support Supportive team culture with mentorship opportunities Clear career progression pathways
