We’re partnering with a leading mining operation to appoint a Health & Safety Manager. This newly created leadership role offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced safety professional to lead, influence and drive health and safety outcomes across a dynamic open cut mining environment. About the Role Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Health & Safety Manager leads a capable and well-established safety team including Superintendent, Advisors, and Officers, supporting all operational departments across site. The role focuses on building leadership capability, strengthening critical control frameworks, and driving practical, people-focused safety outcomes as the business enters its next phase of growth. This opportunity will appeal to an experienced health and safety professional looking to step into an SLT position with strong management support, clear safety foundations and future growth potential. Key Responsibilities Lead, develop and mentor the health and safety team across site operations, Partner with operational leaders to embed strong safety leadership and ownership, Maintain and enhance critical control verification processes (CCV), Drive further development of the site’s ‘Safety at Work’ cultural safety initiative, Provide strategic oversight on psychosocial safety and cultural risk management, Ensure compliance with all relevant statutory, regulatory and corporate obligations, Drive continuous improvement of risk management tools, including Take 5 and JHA processes, Support ongoing system improvements aligned to business needs. What You Bring 5 years in an operational management role within health and safety, Relevant background across health, injury management, safety, occupational hygiene, or related disciplines, Mining or heavy industry experience (coal, open cut, underground hard rock, oil and gas, large-scale manufacturing/industrial etc), Proven leadership and influencing capability across multi-disciplinary teams, Strong understanding of critical risk management and safety systems, Resides or willing to relocate to the Hunter Valley region (relocation assistance available).
