Mackay Community Health Centre | Mackay, QLD Nursing Grade: Clinical Nurse – Grade 6 Location: Mackay Community Health Centre Contract Duration: Contract Hours: Monday to Friday | Up to 80 hours per fortnight | Morning and afternoon shifts Note: Additional shifts may be required based on operational needs About the Role: We are currently seeking experienced Clinical Nurses with a background in mental health crisis and acute care to join the Acute Care Team (ACT) at Mackay Community Health Centre. As part of the frontline response team, you will be the first point of contact for public mental health services, undertaking triage, crisis support, and care coordination. Your work will play a critical role in delivering early intervention and connecting clients to the most appropriate internal or external services. About the Acute Care Team: The ACT provides 24/7 access to public mental health services in the Mackay region. The team conducts clinical assessments, supports crisis interventions, and ensures appropriate and timely referrals to specialist or community-based mental health, drug and alcohol, and primary care services. Key Responsibilities: Perform mental health triage and risk assessments Deliver crisis care and acute intervention within the community Facilitate internal and external referrals to support client care pathways Provide intramuscular injections and complete ECGs Contribute to safety planning, documentation, and clinical reviews Uphold Queensland Mental Health Act and associated guidelines Mandatory Requirements: Current AHPRA registration as a Registered Nurse (Grade 6 level) Proven experience in: Mental health case management Mental health triage Acute/crisis intervention in mental health Administering IM injections Performing and interpreting ECGs Desirable Experience: Proficiency with CIMHA and ieMR systems Familiarity with the Mental Health Act 2016 (QLD) Previous experience with QLD Health or Mackay HHS Mandatory Competencies: Basic Life Support (BLS) Advanced Life Support (ALS) Emergency Triage Education Kit (ETEK) Manual and patient handling Infection control and aggressive behaviour management Mandatory reporting (suspected child abuse/neglect) Medication management (in line with QPHS Regulations Nov 2012) Elder abuse responsibilities under the Aged Care Act Training & Induction Requirements: Candidates must complete: Integrated electronic medical record (ieMR) training Online induction Additional facility training as required by Mackay HHS Travel & Accommodation: Travel reimbursement : Up to $350 each way (receipts required) Fuel reimbursement alternative : Up to $200 each way Accommodation provided : Staff quarters or $200/week allowance for self-sourced lodging (where applicable) Join Us: If you're a skilled mental health nurse with acute care experience and ready for a rewarding contract in regional Queensland, we want to hear from you. healthcare@uniterecruitment.com.au 0483 950 925 for a confidential discussion Collar Care supports diversity and inclusion in healthcare placements.
