The key duties of the position include The Role Under broad guidance, duties of the Senior Missile Analyst / Modeller will include: Contribute to analysis, modelling and simulation of missile systems with particular emphasis on assessing sub-system trade-offs and system level performance Conduct modelling and analysis of missile seekers/sensors, including data fusion, tracking, guidance and targeting Undertake development of mathematical models and conceptual models for current and future missile systems across all speed regimes (subsonic, supersonic, hypersonic) Collaborate across Disciplines within, and external to, the STC on priority areas for Defence, and contribute to building and sustaining a network of internal and external research partners across Academia, Industry and Government Deliver high quality scientific reporting including briefs, publications and presentations to communicate with key Defence stakeholders with impact and influence About our Team The Intelligent Weapon Systems (IWS) Major Science and Technology Capability (MSTC) within DSTG's Sensors and Effectors Division (SED) drives the application of S&T to facilitate the development, enablement, assessment and integration of intelligent weapon system concepts for precise prosecution of threats and assured delivery of effects, to enhance current and future Defence operational capabilities in complex and contested environments. The Guided Weapon System Analysis STC applies missile system and sub-system knowledge, combined with mathematical modelling, simulation, analysis, trials and/or experiments to estimate, characterise, verify and validate performance of current and future missile systems, and to develop and assess mission-driven future missile system concept options. Our Ideal Candidate Our ideal candidate will be self-motivated, display initiative, and collaborate effectively within integrated and diverse teams. They will have skills and expertise in one or more of the following: Numerical modelling and simulation principles and techniques applied to missile systems Missile systems and/or subsystems to include one or more of flight dynamics; aerodynamic prediction; guidance, navigation and control; data fusion and tracking; sensors and seekers Missile engagement and coverage analysis Software and / or Hardware in the loop-based simulation and analysis Software packages such as Matlab, Simulink, C++ and/or Python (or similar) Systems Engineering, Model-Based Systems Engineering, or Model-based Design Leadership and management of small to medium collaborative teams
