The Indigenous Engagement Officer is the key connection between the Groote Eylandt community and the NIAA to help shape government programs and service delivery within the community. This role may include some of the following duties: working with the community and other organisations to talk about government programs and services facilitating local meetings and conversations with Traditional Owners and Elders researching information and providing advice to colleagues within the Agency preparing information, statistics and documents for the Agency building and maintaining relationships and networks with NIAA and community to deliver services and outcomes that contribute to the advancement of Indigenous Australians supporting other staff to build knowledge and understanding of culture and language providing input into reports and delivery of presentations participating in meetings with colleagues and managers across the Agency following processes and procedures when undertaking engagement work.
