About the role Increasing customer access to solar generation, storage and electric vehicles is expected to increase demand on network access, making management of performance and customer outcomes increasingly challenging. The Senior Data Scientist is responsible for championing the discipline of data science applied to analysis of the electricity network through delivery of computational and mathematical methods to extract insights and knowledge from data, which enables advanced business insights for better decision making. The role will involve the end to end development and application of various tools, data modelling, data mining, statistical techniques, algorithms, and machine learning principles to identify trends, patterns, and insights from raw data. This role will be based within the Essential Energy footprint with the ability to work from home in a hybrid work environment. About You You have proven background in applying data science techniques into solving industry problems, including the development and application of analytical models. You are confident in applying conceptual thinking in leading the development of approaches and tools for the analysis and optimisation of solutions to complex problems. Qualifications: Bachelor Data Science, Computer Science, or Applied Mathematics or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications. Desirable Understanding of electrical engineering and/or customer and electricity network behaviour Experience History of leveraging your data science experience to build data models - data cleaning, data modelling, statistical analysis, data visualisation and machine learning Experience in a data science field applying data science approaches in industry to generate meaningful insights from data Demonstrated ability to identify commercial relevance of analysis and manage and be responsible for the delivery these outcomes Proven record of accomplishment in the end to end process; understand the key business problems, source data, develop data models, provide implementable outcomes Experience in development of statistical modelling of large datasets utilizing cloud-based resources Experienced troubleshooting and solving complex technical problems on large datasets.
