Fisheries and Marine Officers (FMO) play a major role in the conservation and sustainability of aquatic resources for the benefit of present and future generations by ensuring compliance with management rules through law enforcement, community education and liaison with the public. We have an exciting opportunity for you to be trained and supported to become a Fisheries and Marine Officer. As a Trainee Fisheries and Marine Officer, you’ll begin your journey with four months of structured training at our South Fremantle Marine Operations Centre. This includes three weeks of in-field experience across the Perth Metropolitan Area, designed to give you practical insight into the role. After successfully completing training, you’ll be deployed to one of our district offices. Training is expected to commence in late January 2026, and attendance for the full duration is mandatory. You’ll be paid at the FMO Level 2 salary from day one of the training program. While travel, accommodation, and relocation costs to attend the training are at your own expense, relocation support may be available when moving to your district placement after training. After completing the four-month training program and spending 12 months working in your assigned district, you'll be eligible to apply for promotion to a Fisheries and Marine Officer Level 3, provided you meet the required training and development milestones.
