The Student Child and Family Connect team are dedicated to supporting young people and families to maximise learning days and improve longterm educational engagement. About the Role: As a Student Support Officer you will work with students, families, schools and the wider community to improve education outcomes for students. The Student Support Officer role includes: Liaising with school leadership and support teams to identify students who have or are at risk of disengaging from education, working collaboratively to develop an engagement plan. Conducting home visits and working with families to identify the barriers to school attendance and facilitating reengagement. Connecting young people and families to school and/or community based supports where indvidiual needs (including educational, social, emotional or behavioural) are identified. Working within a team based, case management approach as a contact for students, families or community members regarding educational engagement. Develop innovative and effective strategies for building relationships with students, families, community members and stakeholder groups within the community to support school engagement. We are looking for someone with: The ability to work independently and part of a team, who is a self-starter and demonstrates initiative in their work. Demonstrated experience working with vulnerable children and young people. Strength in building and sustaining positive working relationships with students, parents and community agencies. Demonstrated or transferrable skills necessary to reconnect young people and families with education and support school engagement.
