Job Description Job Title - Research Assistant Department - Oracle Labs Reporting To - Engineering/Research Director Overall Objective/Purpose - A research assistantship at Oracle Labs will give you an opportunity to explore complex software research and development in different areas of intelligent application security like software composition analysis, runtime application self-protection, vulnerability detection and remediation, program synthesis, cloud security, supply chain security, threat intelligence etc. You shall be leveraging your existing knowledge in these areas as well as applying software engineering skills and techniques to advance the state of the art, working alongside engineers and researchers at Oracle Labs. We are looking for a candidate with solid software engineering skills and exemplary collaboration abilities to deliver on an advanced, secure software systems project. This is a temporary position for 6 months, based in Brisbane. Responsibilities of Role - Work with the project lead and the team to develop secure software systems, leveraging the underlying confidential compute hardware - Collaborate with researchers and developers worldwide to implement software prototypes - Develop production ready code based on the prototypes under the guidance of senior engineers and researchers - Develop associated test suites and test infrastructure Qualifications & Skills Requirement - Education Requirements (Must satisfy one of the below) - Final year Computer Science students in a Honours degree - Current students enrolled in a Master's or PhD degree program in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related - Recent 2025 graduates will also be considered - Passion for solving real world problems through research and development - Demonstrable experience in one or more of the following: SELinux, embedded Linux, Linux kernel development, confidential compute hardware etc. - Programming experience in C/C++ and Java or Python - Any experience in cloud development, Kubernetes and/or distributed systems would be beneficial - Ability to work independently and as part of a team - Ability to read, write and communicate in English fluently - The role is based in Brisbane, Australia.
