Learning Support Teaching Assistant (Teacher’s Aide) Full-Time Permanent Position | 38 hours per week Predominantly term-time only Indicative Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 4:15 pm Oakhill College is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Teaching Assistant to work directly in mainstream classrooms, supporting students from Years 7 to 10 across all subjects. You’ll assist both teachers and students to meet diverse learning needs and help create an inclusive, supportive environment where every student can participate and succeed. The role also includes providing occasional support in the College Library after school hours, as part of extended learning and supervision services. Ideal for an individual who enjoys supporting adolescent learners, works effectively within a team environment, and seeks to make a meaningful contribution to student growth and wellbeing. The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate experience in the areas of: Qualifications and/or experience in working with students with additional learning needs (2 or more years’ experience is desirable) Sound understanding of the learning and social/emotional needs of students with additional learning needs Provide learning support to individual and small groups of students as directed by the classroom teacher Support teachers in the classroom and with the development of appropriate learning resources Provision of support in practical activities and excursions, including personal care if appropriate A willingness to learn new skills in relation to supporting students Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with staff and students Ability to work in a team as well as being self-motivated Strong ICT, literacy, and numeracy skills Involves supporting students and teacher in a mainstream classroom with diverse learning needs Empathy, patience, and the ability to inspire and motivate students to excel in maths and other subjects Strong interpersonal skills Providing feedback and reporting on student learning Providing administrative support to the Learning Support Team A sound knowledge of current pedagogy in the diversity space Willingness to contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.
