The NSW Department of Customer Service is seeking an accomplished legal executive to lead its corporate and commercial legal function as Assistant General Counsel, Corporate & Commercial. As Assistant General Counsel, Corporate & Commercial you will lead a multidisciplinary legal team providing expert advice on commercial transactions, employment law, and access to information. You will work closely with senior executives and other stakeholders to ensure legal compliance, support strategic initiatives, and deliver high-quality legal services that enable effective decision-making. In this role, you will:Provide strategic legal advice on commercial, funding, and inter-governmental arrangements.Lead the Government Information (Public Access) Act (GIPA) function, ensuring compliance and transparency.Oversee legal input into contracts, employment matters, and public sector governance issues.Drive the development of systems and policies that enhance legal service delivery and operational efficiency.Manage legal risk and ensure alignment with ethical, legislative, and regulatory frameworks.Lead and mentor a newly established high-performing legal team, fostering a culture of collaboration, development, and excellence.
