The Project Genus Infrastructure (NSW) has been awarded the HumeLink East project as part of a $1.4 billion joint venture with Acciona. The project involves constructing 237 km of 500 kV transmission lines between Bannaby and Wondalga in NSW, along with upgrades to the Bannaby substation. It forms the eastern section of the broader HumeLink initiative. HumeLink East will enhance grid capacity, support Snowy 2.0, and enable greater integration of renewable energy across the state, playing a key role in Australia’s clean energy transition. Construction began in early 2025, with completion targeted for 2026–2027. The project will generate around 1,600 jobs and includes $2 million in local community funding, with strong commitments to environmental management and stakeholder engagement. The Role Genus Infrastructure (NSW) is looking for skilled Plant and Machinery Operators to join the HumeLink East project at the Bannaby Substation near Taralga, NSW. The role involves operating heavy machinery to carry out earthworks, tower pad construction, and access road preparation, all within a remote site environment that prioritises safety, quality, and teamwork. Successful candidates will become part of a dynamic and expanding team within a forward-thinking company. The work schedule is based on a 10/4 roster, with the possibility of overtime when needed. Operate a variety of plant and machinery (e.g. excavators, loaders, rollers, graders) in accordance with safety standards and project requirements Conduct pre-start checks, routine maintenance, and basic troubleshooting on machinery Support civil construction activities including earthworks, tower pad construction, and access road development Follow daily work instructions from site supervisors and collaborate with project teams Adhere to all WHS protocols, environmental regulations, and site-specific procedures Report hazards, incidents, and equipment faults promptly and accurately Assist with general labouring, material handling, and logistics as required Work on a remote project site in compliance with Genus’ safety and environmental standards Contribute to a positive, team-focused culture on site Skills / Qualifications & Experience We are particularly interested in hearing from experienced candidates with the following skills: HRWL (C2, LF, EWP, RB), Working at Heights, Telehandler operation Excavator (Final Trim 5–36T), Skid Steer (Final Trim), Front End Wheel Loader, Integrated Tool Carrier, Grader, Roller Poly Welding (Butt and Electrofusion qualified) Strong concrete finishing skills, working with precast pits and pipes HDPE and CAD welding, final trim earthworks Substation expansion and working near live equipment Setting piled foundations, general formwork and bracing 40T Franna crane operation Ability to pass a full pre-employment medical and regular drug and alcohol testing The Business Genus Infrastructure Pty Ltd (GNI) are specialists in delivering end to end innovative solutions in multiple sectors across Australia.
