We’re seeking a trade-qualified Machinist to support the maintenance and repair of critical drilling and production equipment in Australia’s onshore oil and gas industry. Based in our regional workshop (or with occasional field deployment), you’ll play a key role in machining, fitting, and refurbishing oilfield components to tight tolerances and industry standards. This is a hands-on role suited to someone with a strong mechanical background, a keen eye for precision, and a commitment to safety in challenging environments. Key Responsibilities: Perform precision machining on drilling and production equipment, including valves, pump components, wellhead parts, and downhole tools. Operate manual and CNC lathes, mills, and other shop equipment to tight tolerances. Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and machining specifications. Conduct inspections using precision measuring tools (micrometers, verniers, dial indicators). Assist with mechanical fitting and assembly/disassembly of oilfield equipment. Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations and company standards. Maintain workshop cleanliness, tooling, and safe work practices. What We’re Looking For: Trade qualification in Fitting & Turning, Machining, or Mechanical Engineering (e.g. Cert III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade). Minimum [X] years’ experience in a machining/fitting role – oil & gas, mining, or heavy industry preferred. Experience working on rotating equipment, pressure systems, or oilfield tools highly regarded. Strong safety awareness and commitment to zero-harm culture. Oil and Gas Tickets are a bonus.
