The Opportunity We are seeking a hands-on dynamic Finance & Business Manager to join our small family leadership team. This is a pivotal role focused on strategic financial guidance, operational optimisation, and commercial decision-making to support business performance and growth. You’ll be responsible for managing the company’s financial frameworks, tools, and systems—overseeing budgeting, accounting, forecasting, and reporting activities. Your commercial insight will help drive improvements, manage risk, and unlock business opportunities. This role also involves direct client engagement, contributing to service excellence, sales support, and business development. Key Responsibilities Lead financial operations including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow, and financial reporting. Provide commercial and strategic advice to support growth and operational improvement. Prepare and present financial reports and insights for leadership and stakeholders. Review, develop and enhance internal systems and financial processes. Manage compliance across taxation, insurance, legal, ASIC, GST, FBT, and licensing. Work closely with the broader business across procurement, sales, and servicing functions. Mentor and support a small accounts team, fostering professional development and performance. Maintain key relationships with clients, partners, auditors, and external accountants. The Team You’ll lead and work closely with a tight-knit team of 4 , including: Accounts Clerk Management Accountant Senior Accounts Assistant Essential Skills, Experience & Qualifications CA or CPA qualification (or nearing completion). Min 4 years’ finance experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership role. Background in a private, asset-intensive environment (preferably Mining Services). Proven success in strategy execution and commercial improvement. Expertise in financial planning, compliance, and reporting. Hands-on experience across end-to-end accounting and financial operations. Proficient in taxation (GST, FBT), legal and regulatory requirements, and cash/funds management. Advanced Excel skills; strong proficiency across MS Office Suite. Comfortable with being engaged with partners and clients and sound commercial acumen. High attention to detail, work ethic, agility, and a growth mindset. Desirable Skills & Experience Proficiency in Power BI for data-driven reporting and insights. Experience with Sage , SharePoint , and Inspire systems. Exposure to commercial vehicle sales/hire or similar asset-based industries.
