This position is 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off Fly In/Fly Out roster based out of Perth. Reporting to the Field Operations Supervisor this position will be responsible to operate or maintain EDL Remote Energy (RE) power station plant and equipment in a reliable and cost efficient manner in order to maximise operating availability. Ensuring the highest standards of safety and environmental performance are adhered to. The Power Technician position is a dual role position that entails either power station operator duties or electrical field technician duties depending on Operations & Maintenance departmental requirements. Key Areas of Responsibility Actively ensure own health and safety and the safety of others through understanding and implementing workplace health and safety obligations. Ensure that the safe operation of the Power Station is never compromised in order to maintain production. Comply with safety requirements and regulations at all times. Ensure a safe workplace by reporting all risks, hazards, incidents, near misses and accidents, and remove or modify any unsafe processes or systems; Abide by and promote EDL core “SPIRIT” values. Contribute to improved financial performance by ensuring that costs are kept to a minimum. Support and comply with company policies and procedures. Maintain a high level of cleanliness in and around the Power Stations. Contribute to plant availability and reliability by being a key stakeholder in preventative and breakdown maintenance programs. Maximise site productivity by ensuring that faults are addressed promptly and effectively. Contribute to the effectiveness of EDL RE Operations support to clients by ensuring that events and incidents are recorded and communicated. Improve client support by developing a thorough understanding of the operation of the site power station plant, together with any hire plant under the control of EDL RE. Contribute to operations efficiency by accurately maintaining all log books, reports, records and correspondence, keeping them in a clean and orderly manner and ensuring that they are updated at the required times. Improve maintenance by the prompt initiation of Work Orders, and ensure that they are linked to EDL RE’s planning and scheduling system. Assist maintenance efficiency by ensuring that the required levels of spares are maintained in accordance with the site spare parts list. Person Specification Good interpersonal skills. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong computer literacy. Thorough knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and standards of practice. Ability to work effectively in a team. Flexibility. Strong Customer focus. Strong commitment to high standards of performance. Ability to work autonomously & have a high level of initiative. Trouble shooting and fault finding skills, able to read and interpret electrical drawings. The ability to professionally and positively represent EDL RE with customers and service providers. Qualifications and Experience A West Australian “A” Grade Electrical License (endorsed ‘Electrical Mechanical’ preferable, as a minimum endorsed ‘Electrical Fitter’). HV Switching ticket (desirable). Supervised Gas Fitter certification (desirable). Current WA drivers licence (“C” class). Dual trade (Instrumentation) qualification (desirable). Desirable- has electrical power station or plant experience of at least 5 years. Desirable- has experience with plant control systems (PLC, Scada, Citect etc). Desirable- has experience with reciprocating gas and diesel engines. Successful applicants will be required to undergo medical and background screening prior to commencement with EDL.
