Our Next Junior Numerical Modeller… We have an exciting new opportunity for a Junior Modeller will provide working technical knowledge of conceptual modelling to support the delivery of Okane’s leading mine closure consulting services through an integrated life of mine approach. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Conceptual, Numerical and Analytic Modelling: Complete background reviews in support of conceptual model development. Complete simulations of geochemical, hydrologic and hydrogeologic conditions for a given domain developed through robust conceptual analysis (as directed by senior technical team). Reporting: Prepare proficient technical documentation and reports in area of technical discipline. Support in the development of proposals and tendering documentation. Data Interpretation: Apply an understanding of geological, geoengineering, environmental or geochemistry principles to assist in the delivery of new approaches to solve basic problems. Data Management: Assist with the development of laboratory testing programs. Complete QA / QC checks on data captured by field monitoring systems or from laboratory testing programs. Fieldwork: Perform field studies for the collection and maintenance of data from scientific instrumentation installed at mine waste reclamation monitoring sites. Install field instruments for monitoring the performance of reclaimed watersheds and/or mine waste cover systems. Plan and complete field investigations such as material sampling programs and construction QA/QC projects. Demonstrate care about the well-being of yourself and others through actively participating in occupational health and safety standards, activities, and initiatives. Tertiary qualifications in Engineering (geo-technical, environmental, geo-environmental, mining) or Science (geology, hydrogeology, geochemistry, chemistry) or similar. Previous numerical modelling experience is considered an asset. Coding experience is considered an asset. Knowledge of regulations, codes and standards including relevant professional procedures and practices related to modelling. Demonstrated ability to think critically to analyze and interpret data. Excellent time management skills, ability to work to strict deadlines and manage multiple tasks. Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with both internal and external stakeholders. Experience using relevant software packages, including GeoStudio, Goldsim, ArcGIS, QGIS, Drains, Siberia, Golden Surfer, WEPP, Deswik, etc., is considered an asset.
