The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) was founded in 1877 and is one of Australia's leading beef cattle companies, managing over 6.1 million. Alexandria Station Alexandria Station is located on the Barkly Tableland in the Northern Territory and is NAPCo's oldest property acquired in 1877. Alexandria spans just over 1 million hectares and is home to NAPCo’s Alexandria composite stud. The Role The Machinery Operator / Heavy Vehicle Operator maintains property roads, undertakes property maintenance, drainage works and erosion control, as well as the safe transportation of livestock in oversize trucks / road trains ensuring the health and welfare of our animals. Day to Day duties include: Operate heavy vehicles including, but not limited to, a Semi-Trailer, B-Double or Road Train transporting livestock on property and/or across the NAPCo supply chain. Operating Grader to maintain roads, drainage works and erosion control Machinery operations for property maintenance Maintains machinery in good working order Undertakes mechanical prestart and general maintenance if required Completing paperwork accurately and maintaining good knowledge of the chain of responsibility and road transport legislation Undertaking varied station tasks or assisting the crew when needed with adhoc general station duties. Demonstrate strong safety leadership building a positive team culture The successful candidate will: Must hold a MC truck license, with experience transporting livestock, ideally cattle. Livestock handling skills Experience with convertible livestock trailers and B-Doubles Role may entail travelling long distances requiring nights away when transporting livestock Have experience operating a Grader, Loader, Dozer and other machinery Have good mechanical knowledge of equipment ideally have relevant qualifications or equivalent experience in operating a Grader and other machinery Be able to take direction from the Station Manager as tasks may vary day to day Maintain all station equipment as if it were your own Employee benefits Permanent full-time position Onsite air-conditioned accommodation (Single or Couple) and meals provided NAPCo are proud to offer competitive pay, generous annual leave entitlements, travel reimbursement and season completion bonus.
