Job Description: Part Time, Permanent position at 16 hours per week Evening shift (18:00 - 02:30) Monday and Tuesday Fitzroy Location Excellent benefits including salary packaging About the Role You will be responsible for the testing of routine microbiology specimens according to established laboratory procedures and issuing of high quality, accurate and timely results relevant to these specimens. Classifications for this position will range from RY4 – RY7 ($94,478.80 - $106,906.80 per annum pro rata) Duties When required participate in weekend shifts and on call rosters Perform bench duties according to documented laboratory procedures in the allocated time frame. Ensure delays and outstanding results are brought to the attention of the laboratory supervisor Follow laboratory procedures to ensure a safe workplace and utilise personal protection (i.e. gloves, Biohazard cabinets) when required Prioritise work according to clinical urgency and promptly notify critical results to the requesting doctor or to medical microbiologists as specified in laboratory procedures Provide support to colleagues and assist other team members to ensure all work is completed by the end of the shift Qualifications, Skills and Experience Bachelor of Science, Degree in Microbiology, Medical Laboratory or equivalent qualification Good knowledge of clinical microbiology and its practical applications Competence in reading and interpreting microbiology cultures and microscopy Good knowledge of recent advances in clinical microbiology and experience with automated equipment Specific experience with current laboratory automation (MALDI-TOF Bruker, Vitek 2, Atellica, Bactec Fx, MGIT) What we offer A focus on wellbeing initiatives, with regular events and programs Confidential, solutions-focused employee counselling Ability to join Fitness Passport - Your pass to an extensive choice of fitness facilities Salary Packaging – Increase your take home pay!
