About the role We’re looking for values-driven Youth Workers to support young people experiencing homelessness through safe accommodation and person-centred care. You’ll build meaningful rapport, deliver life skills programs, and work as part of a multidisciplinary team to help young people achieve independence and meet their goals. We have permanent part time positions (working approximately 18.5 hours per week) working evening / overnight shifts from 4.45pm to 9.15am (8.5 Active - 8 hours passive) and 9am to 5pm (8 hours). Weekend shifts on a rotating 4-week roster. Reporting to the Team Leader, this is a casual position based at Oasis Youth Service in Chisholm. Salary and conditions are in accordance with the SCHADS Award Level 3. You will successfully Support the daily operations of a 24-hour youth crisis accommodation service, promoting the wellbeing and development of young people. Ensure a safe, respectful environment free from abuse, bullying, or threats. Build rapport with young people to identify immediate needs and provide support aligned with flexible, client-centred case plans. Apply the principles of The Salvation Army’s Youth Model of Care – Journey to Independence – to improve outcomes. Teach essential life skills, support health and safety, and encourage community engagement and personal growth. Facilitate and promote relevant centre-based living skills and training programs tailored to individual needs. Connect young people with internal and external services, advocating to ensure access to appropriate support.
