We are the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA) and our role is to deliver the Australian Government's commitment to improve the lives of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples including through the National Agreement on Closing the Gap. Program 1.2 Children and Schooling is part of the Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS) and provides funding for a range of early years activities and activities to support educational outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. The role is situated in Social Policy Group and also supports operations for IAS Program 1.3 Safety and Wellbeing. The role of the Director IAS Program 1.2 Children and Schooling Strategy and Coordination includes the following duties and is expected to be conducted with a high degree self-direction: lead a team to deliver program and grants coordination for Social Policy Group corporate responsibilities and for IAS Programs 1.2 and 1.3 lead and support Social Policy Group actions on program delivery and grants coordination in support of the Agency-wide transformation program Galambany provide briefings and strategic advice to support Senior Executive consideration of program and grants coordination arrangements for Social Policy Group engage with internal stakeholders (Regional Offices, Program and Policy Areas, Enabling Services) regarding the management of agreements and to support Agency-wide program and grants arrangements interface with Agency-wide IT and data systems to achieve Group and Branch business objectives undertake reviews using internal quality assurance and continuous improvement processes apply sound judgement and make evidence-based decisions aligned to the operating environment and legislative frameworks guide others to identify and mitigate foreseeable risks plan and coordinate team workflow to ensure even distribution and management of priorities, ensuring quality is maintained Identify opportunities to enhance team performance in an environment of collaboration, continuous improvement and change. Required competencies: high level analytical, research and problem-solving skills experience in grants management roles including understanding of Australian Government legislative frameworks ability to provide strategic advice on aligning program management and grant frameworks to achieve policy outcomes ability to work with, synthesise and analyse data to inform strategic advice for Senior Executives effective stakeholder engagement skills with demonstrated ability to brief and engage with Senior Executives ability to identify emerging opportunities or issues and respond quickly to competing priorities as they emerge extensive experience in supervision of staff and provision of constructive management with a focus on capability development and team building willingness and commitment to continue to develop cultural competency in relation to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
