The Assistant Director performs a key function within the Branch, including people, system and stakeholder management responsibilities that enable the Agency to meet its obligations under the Indigenous Advancement Strategy (IAS). This position has delegated authority and responsibility to resolve issues and mitigate risks across wide ranging activities pertaining to data integrity and reporting accuracy. The Assistant Director works with a considerable degree of independence, under broad direction from the Director. They are responsible for: leading the collation and reporting of grants data, through such means as Executive and Parliamentary briefs reporting on the Agency's progress towards achievement of key performance measures contributing to the aspects of Galambany which pertain to improving data literacy and evidence informed decision making promoting best practice data management and delivering cross-sectional systems support providing advice and specialist expertise across a broad range of activities, including any issues that require escalation to a senior staff member. The key duties of the position include The ideal candidate will demonstrate the following skills and attributes: strong technical and analytical capabilities, able to manage the entire data lifecycle, including collation, analysis and reporting work under minimal supervision and capably supervise other staff as necessary strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, particularly relating to the development of data and reporting specifications ability to anticipate and establish priorities, monitor progress and work to deliver required corporate outcomes, specific Agency functions or a program within an area of responsibility demonstrated capability and commitment to continually develop cultural competency demonstrated ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples.
