We’re seeking compassionate, capable, and courageous individuals to join our Rapid Response Team as a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner —first responders in moments of crisis and catalysts for long-term healing. The Role As a Specialist Family Violence Practitioner , you’ll be on the frontline of a person’s journey from crisis to security. This role provides compassionate, immediate support to people experiencing family violence—delivering crisis response, assessment, and targeted interventions, including outreach in the community and motel settings. Grounded in a human rights, trauma-informed approach, you’ll walk alongside individuals and families to empower their choices and uphold their dignity every step of the way. You will Successfully Deliver crisis responses, safety planning, and support to people escaping family violence. Conduct needs-based assessments and connect individuals with targeted, life-changing services. Provide outreach support, work closely with referral partners like The Orange Door, Safe Steps, and direct self-referrals to ensure no one is left without help. Walk alongside clients with empathy, advocating for their voices, goals, and recovery every step of the way. This is a maximum fixed-term full-time position, contracted for 12 months, based in Windsor, VIC. We are willing to accept applications for 0.6 FTE up to full-time and days are negotiable. What you will bring Social Work degree (or equivalent) —essential for this specialist role. Experience in family violence or child wellbeing services is highly desirable. Crisis response expertise, with a calm, grounded presence under pressure. Strong case management and service coordination skills. Cultural sensitivity and inclusive practice, with an understanding of how to respond safely and appropriately to diverse client needs Alignment with The Salvation Army’s mission to work for justice, care for people, and build healthy communities.
