We have an opportunity for a Technical Writer, prefer candidates to reside in Melbourne, FL but open to remote work in the following states: Florida (FL), Georgia (GA), Minnesota (MN), North Carolina (NC), Ohio (OH), South Carolina (SC), Tennessee (TN), Texas (TX) or Virginia (VA). Note: Relocation expenses are not covered by the employer/client. We are seeking a Technical Writer with 6–8 years of experience to develop clear, accurate, and compliant technical documentation for systems that manage and process large datasets, particularly in government or highly regulated environments. This role requires the ability to translate complex technical concepts into accessible documentation for diverse audiences, including developers, analysts, and federal clients. Applicants responding to this position must be a US Citizen and will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements by currently possessing the ability to view classified government information. Corp-to-Corp or subcontract personnel will not be considered for this position Responsibilities: Develop and maintain technical documentation including user guides, system manuals, SOPs, training materials, API documentation, and compliance reports Collaborate with engineering, data, and security teams to understand technical architectures and data workflows Translate data-driven processes and complex system functionalities into clear, concise, and accurate documentation Ensure documentation adheres to industry standards and government compliance requirements (e.g., FedRAMP, FISMA, NIST) Maintain version control and manage document updates in alignment with release cycles and project milestones Review and edit existing documentation for clarity, consistency, and technical accuracy Support internal training and onboarding by providing easy-to-understand materials for technical and non-technical audiences Additional responsibilities as the manager/PM or client request Requirements Qualifications: 6–8 years of experience as a Technical Writer in a technical, data-intensive, or government-focused environment Experience documenting systems involving large datasets, data pipelines, or cloud-based infrastructure Strong understanding of technical writing principles and best practices Proficiency with documentation tools such as Confluence, Adobe FrameMaker, or Markdown Familiarity with project and code repositories (e.g., Git, Jira) Understanding of federal government compliance standards and terminology Experience supporting federal or state government contracts Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies Willingness to travel as needed Ability to acquire a Secret Security clearance and acquire and maintain government identification/common access card (CAC). Preferred if candidates currently hold an active Secret Security Clearance or higher Ability to successfully pass any background checks and/or drug testing required on the contract. Note that any usage and detection of cannabis with or without a prescription will result in a failed clearance regardless of the legalization under State Laws. U.S. Citizenship is required due to security clearance requirements. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Technical Writing, English, Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field Additional Provisions: Candidate must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
