Position Details Continuing | Part-Time Higher Education Officer Level 5 | $80,405 - $88,737 p.a. pro rata Location: Renmark / Ngaralte Country View Position Description About the role of a Technical Officer This role is a perfect opportunity for someone with a background in nursing who has a desire to support the learning requirements of students studying Nursing & Health Sciences at Flinders Renmark campus. Boasting a state-of-the-art clinical skills simulation space, this lab plays a pivotal role in providing necessary clinical skills workshops to our students. Working closely with another team member to allow for coverage of laboratory support during the semester, the role involves preparing the laboratory environment in accordance with university course requirements, liaising when applicable with the Senior Manager, Healthcare Simulation and wider team. More specifically, the Technical Officer provides technical advice, demonstration of equipment, techniques and procedures when required during practical classes. Ensuring maintenance requirements are followed in accordance with relevant policy and legislation and maintain, monitoring and supervising stock control for smooth operation of all programs are also key elements of this role. This role also requires: Assuming the functional responsibilities of the Team Leader and/or Laboratories Manager in their absence. The provision of education, advice and instruction to staff on simulation equipment functions and capabilities to ensure effective and safe operation. With excellent interpersonal and verbal communication skills, you build and maintain effective collegial relationships at all levels within the organisation and with external stakeholders and customers alike. You are an effective leader and are comfortable with the supervision of staff and are equally comfortable working autonomously or as part of a team. You also possess: Eligibility for registration as a registered nurse or midwife with the AHPRA and possess a current practicing certificate or an equivalent combination of experience and/or education and training relevant to the position. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety legislation, including management of hazardous substances. A high level of attention to detail and organisational skills, with a willingness to work flexibly. Previous experience in a hospital or teaching laboratory environment.
