Join our Technology team in our Sydney office as a Software Engineering Tech Lead , spearheading the creation of a cutting-edge frontend UI for one of our critical customer-facing platforms. This is a pivotal role where you'll leverage your expertise in Angular and JavaScript to lead the transformation. As part of Equifax’s significant data and technology investment, you’ll be instrumental in delivering a best-in-class user interface, while the broader project involves transitioning one of our core legacy systems from AWS to a new GCP-based global platform. This new platform strengthens our data-driven decision-making and AI/ML capabilities. You’ll be the technical lead responsible for guiding your team to build an exceptional, automated, and secure frontend experience that will further support the people, businesses, and communities we serve. You’ll have a roughly 50/50 split between hands-on technical work and leadership. You’ll initially lead 2 to 3 senior frontend-focused engineers offshore with a larger contingent of engineers across our global teams. Your responsibilities will include guiding frontend architecture and development practices , conducting code reviews, delivering technical designs, and supporting general process improvement and automation within the engineering practice. What you’ll do Spearhead the design, development, and deployment of a new responsive and performant frontend UI using Angular for a critical platform, while supporting its transition to a new cloud environment and capability (AWS to GCP). Lead and mentor a small team of senior engineers offshore, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing , high-performing team environment. Build strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders including product, business, and sales partners, effectively translating technical concepts to diverse audiences. Leverage strong experience in frontend development, particularly with Angular and JavaScript , as well as an understanding of full-stack software development principles and public cloud platforms like GCP and AWS, to drive innovative solutions. Ensure compliance with EFX secure software development guidelines and best practices, and be responsible for meeting and maintaining QE, DevSec, and FinOps KPIs. Facilitate Sprint planning, Sprint Retrospectives, and other agile team activities, promoting continuous improvement and team agility. Be responsible for frontend architecture and implementation decisions associated with Product features/stories, technical debt reduction , refactoring work, and technology choices, ensuring long-term maintainability and scalability. Create and deliver technical presentations on frontend solutions and strategies to internal and external technical and non-technical stakeholders, communicating with clarity and precision, and presenting complex information in a concise format that is audience-appropriate. What experience you need 7 years of software engineering experience in an enterprise environment, with a significant focus on frontend development and delivering user-centric solutions. Proven experience leading development teams and delivering complex JavaScript projects, demonstrating an ability to inspire and guide technical excellence. Deep understanding and hands-on experience with JavaScript (ES6), HTML5, CSS3, and modern JavaScript frameworks, especially Angular, including best practices for component architecture, performance optimization, and accessibility (WCAG). Experience with state management libraries (e.g., NgRx, Redux) and frontend component libraries, with an eye for creating reusable and efficient code. Familiarity with frontend testing frameworks (e.g., Jasmine, Karma, Jest, Cypress) and testing best practices, coupled with a commitment to high code quality and robust testing strategies. Experience managing, supporting, and mentoring a small team of senior engineers, fostering their growth and development. 4 years of experience with Cloud technology: GCP, AWS, Azure. Experience designing and developing cloud-native solutions, with a focus on seamless frontend integration with backend services and APIs. 4 years of experience deploying and releasing software using Jenkins CI/CD pipelines; understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts, Helm Charts, and Terraform constructs is beneficial. Experience working in an agile environment with relevant associated tools (e.g., JIRA, Confluence), and a mindset geared towards iterative development and feedback. What could set you apart Previous experience understanding a complex business and engineering environment, migrating to a new cloud platform, and building scalable, intuitive, and accessible user-centric frontend solutions. Demonstrated problem-solving skills and the ability to navigate ambiguous environments while leading software engineering for a platform or product, particularly in the context of frontend UI development and team leadership, often anticipating challenges and proactively addressing them. Strong communication and presentation skills to technical and non-technical audiences, with an ability to influence and align stakeholders. Experience with micro-frontend architectures. A strong portfolio showcasing previous frontend projects and leadership. A proactive approach to identifying and championing improvements in frontend technologies, processes, and user experience.
