Please see below Position Description ROLE PURPOSE To be the first point of call for anyone arriving on the ward To manage the clerical administration of patients episode of care To assist the Nurse Unit Manger and ward staff in undertaking clerical functions for the ward/department ROLE DESCRIPTION The Ward Clerk is responsible for being the first point of call for anyone arriving on the ward and managing the clerical administration of a patient's episode of care. They are also required to assist the Nurse Unit Manager and ward staff in undertaking clerical functions for the ward / department. The Ward Clerk is required to undertake the following tasks: Managing medical records eg. filing correspondence / results into patient folders, preparing medical record packs, compiling medical records Greeting and orientating patients to their rooms and escorting patients on discharge where required Booking transport for patients, and appointments for discharged patients Data management using IBA (internal workflow system) Clerical support for the Nurse Unit Manager and nursing staff The role is sedentary in nature requiring periods of prolonged standing or sitting and the Ward Clark is based at a workstation located at the main desk on each ward. However at varying times of the day the Ward clerk may be roaming the ward performing tasks.The Ward Clerk will be seated or standing (depending predominately on their preference) when completing a combination of computer based and telephone based tasks with the opportunity to vary posture from sitting to standing when liaising face to face with patients, colleagues, the public, and completing filing of documents / operating the fax or photocopy machine.
