Chop ‘n Chill is a vibrant and busy dining venue in the heart of Port Macquarie, known for its bold fusion of American BBQ and Southeast Asian flavours. We are now seeking an experienced and motivated Sous Chef to support our Head Chef and lead our kitchen team with passion, precision, and professionalism. About the Role As Sous Chef, you will be responsible for supervising day-to-day kitchen operations, maintaining food quality and presentation standards, and mentoring staff to deliver exceptional dining experiences. Key Responsibilities Assist the Head Chef in planning, coordinating, and executing daily kitchen operations Lead and supervise kitchen staff during service to ensure smooth operation Prepare and cook menu items to a high standard of consistency and presentation Ensure food is prepared in compliance with food safety, hygiene, and allergen protocols Contribute to new menu planning and seasonal updates with creative input Oversee inventory control, ordering, and cost management Train and mentor junior chefs and kitchen hands to maintain standards and foster a positive kitchen culture Ensure all kitchen equipment is maintained and kitchen cleanliness is upheld Step in to lead the kitchen in the absence of the Head Chef Skills & Experience Minimum 3-5 years of experience in a commercial kitchen, including experience in a leadership or supervisory role Strong understanding of food safety and WHS regulations Passion for flavour-driven, modern cuisine with excellent cooking techniques Proven leadership and team management skills Excellent time management, multitasking, and organisational abilities Trade qualifications in Commercial Cookery Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays Click “Apply for this job” to register your interest in this fulltime salaried position with a starting salary from $75K - $80K(plus super)
