The National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA) implements the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), which is one of the biggest social reforms in the country since Medicare. As an Agency, we support more than 690,000 participants with a significant and permanent disability, and the families and carers of those living with disability. A new role awaits The Modelling team is responsible for the development and management of financial modelling activities in the Agency, as they relate to the operating costs of the Agency. This includes the Agency Resource Model (ARM), Frontline Workforce Model (FWM) and other models. It also is responsible for delivery of reports and models to support end of month reporting within the Agency. The team works with several stakeholders across the Agency as a “centre of excellence” for financial modelling. The APS6 Finance Modeller (Professional Stream) will utilise their proven financial experience and skills to enhance the team’s financial modelling activities that support the NDIA’s objectives to “build a world-leading National Disability Insurance Scheme”. The key duties of the position include: As the successful candidate you will work under limited supervision to support the strategic direction of the Branch, Division Group and Agency. Your responsibilities will include but are not limited to: • Developing and maintaining internal and external cost models. • Developing and maintaining fit-for-purpose monthly reporting tools. • Support for costing related activities within the portfolio. • Developing and maintaining standard operating procedures and user guide. • Working with stakeholders, understanding business requirements • Analysing and interpreting data, including model outputs as well as data sources that feed into models. We are seeking candidates with proven experience in financial roles, showcasing their expertise in their respective areas. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are a must, along with an excellent understanding of accounting principles Additionally, we’re looking for skills and qualifications essential to performing your duties including: Intermediate to Advanced Microsoft Excel Well-developed stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to partner with internal and external stakeholders. Demonstrated ability to work well within teams to meet tight deadlines. Demonstrated ability to think critically and contribute to business improvement strategies. Has an interest in learning, likes to innovate and has the ability to adapt to new processes and changing priorities. Communicates effectively in writing and verbally. Understands the audience and context, anticipates responses and effectively tailors’ communication styles. Support the strategic direction of the Branch, Division Group and Agency. Negotiates and influences effectively to support the delivery of quality Agency outcomes. Desirable skills, experience and qualifications Proficient in the use of Excel, including advanced functions and formulas, power query, data analysis, pivot tables, and creating complex spreadsheets to support business operations and month-end reporting. Mandatory qualifications This position is within the professional job stream and the officer must possess relevant academic qualifications with membership of Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA), Certified Practicing Accountants (CPA) or other equivalent professional finance bodies (or holding equivalent finance related post graduate qualifications); together with extensive direct finance experience performing and delivering complex financial and governance outcomes.
