Burdekin School caters to students with disabilities, from Gumlu, north of Bowen, to Giru, south of Townsville. Our staff specialise in providing learning environments for students with a range of intellectual and multiple disabilities.
We are committed to scaffolding work, social, and life skills of students preparing to transition to post-school options, and actively seek opportunities for our students to participate in the workforce and local community.
About The Role
As the Head of Department (Curriculum), your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Lead relevant curriculum areas or whole school program in developing and providing quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Embed socially just practices in daily school life.
- Set high standards for student and staff performance.
- Engage in lifelong learning and professional development.
- Build partnerships with students, parents, agencies, and community groups.
- Be future-oriented and strategic.
- Understand legislation and policies impacting on the school department, students and staff.
- Manage the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the school program to achieve goals.
