Position Overview Reporting directly to the Owner, the Operations Manager will be entrusted with leading the operational direction of the business, influencing strategic decision-making, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects, people, and performance outcomes across the organisation. As a key member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Owner and fellow leaders to drive business growth, strengthen operational excellence, and help shape the future direction of Durack Civil. The role is responsible for overseeing multiple civil construction projects while providing leadership, mentorship and support to Project Managers, Engineers, Supervisors and site-based teams. In addition to operational leadership, you will play an important role in identifying and securing future work opportunities, contributing to tendering activities, strategic planning and resource management to support the continued growth of the business. Key Responsibilities Lead and manage the successful delivery of multiple civil construction projects across Queensland. Provide leadership, mentoring and support to Project Managers and operational teams. Oversee project performance, budgets, forecasts, programmes and resource allocation. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. Drive accountability and operational excellence across all projects and business units. Work closely with project teams to identify and mitigate risks, resolve issues and achieve project objectives. Contribute to business planning, strategic growth initiatives and key operational decisions. Support and oversee tender submissions, pricing reviews, methodology development and bid strategy. Assist in identifying future opportunities and maintaining strong client relationships. Foster strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors and key stakeholders. Ensure compliance with all contractual, environmental, quality and safety requirements. Identify and implement process improvements that enhance project delivery and overall business performance. Qualifications & Experience Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline. Demonstrated experience successfully managing large-scale civil infrastructure projects. Proven leadership experience managing Project Managers, Engineers and project delivery teams. Strong commercial, contractual and financial management capability. Experience with tendering, estimating reviews and securing new work opportunities. Excellent communication, stakeholder management and negotiation skills. Thorough understanding of civil construction methodologies, risk management and project controls.
