We maintain a modern fleet of heavy haulage transport vehicles and equipment, and we’re looking for a reliable and experienced Transport Supervisor to join our growing team. The Role: The Transport Supervisor is responsible for the safe, efficient, and compliant coordination of heavy haulage transport operations. This role oversees drivers, transport schedules, vehicle compliance, permits, load planning, and operational performance to ensure the timely movement of heavy machinery, oversized loads, and equipment. The supervisor will maintain high standards of safety, customer service, regulatory compliance, and operational efficiency while supporting continuous improvement across the transport division. This role suits someone who thrives in a hands-on environment, has good communication skills and the drive to succeed. This position is not available as FIFO. Applicants must reside in the Northern Territory. No relocation assistance is available. Key Responsibilities Operational Management Supervise daily heavy haulage transport activities. Coordinate the movement of heavy machinery, plant, equipment, and oversized loads. Develop and manage transport schedules to meet operational and customer requirements. Allocate drivers, vehicles, and support resources effectively. Monitor fleet utilisation and productivity. Respond to operational issues, breakdowns, delays, and emergencies. Safety & Compliance Ensure compliance with NHVR regulations, fatigue management requirements, and Chain of Responsibility (CoR) obligations. Maintain compliance with road transport legislation and permit conditions. Conduct regular safety inspections and audits. Lead toolbox meetings and safety briefings. Investigate incidents, near misses, and non-conformances. Promote a strong safety culture across transport operations. Fleet & Equipment Management Coordinate maintenance schedules with workshop personnel. Monitor vehicle defects and ensure timely repairs. Ensure transport equipment is maintained in a safe and roadworthy condition. Oversee pre-start inspections and maintenance reporting. Assist with fleet replacement and procurement planning. Personnel Management Supervise transport operators, drivers, escorts, and support personnel. Regular interaction with drivers, workshop personnel, clients, and project teams. Provide leadership, mentoring, and performance management. Manage driver inductions and competency assessments. Assist in recruitment and workforce planning. Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures. May require after-hours availability to support transport operations. Load Planning & Logistics Coordinate route planning for heavy and oversized loads. Arrange permits, escorts, and traffic management requirements. Liaise with clients, project managers, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities. Monitor delivery performance and customer satisfaction. Ensure accurate transport documentation is completed and maintained. Travel to project sites and depots as required. Administration & Reporting Maintain transport records, permits, and compliance documentation. Prepare operational reports and KPI data. Monitor transport costs and identify efficiency improvements. Assist in budgeting and resource planning. Ensure accurate timesheet, fuel, and maintenance reporting. Required Qualifications & Experience All candidates will be required to pass a medical assessment, and regular drug and alcohol screening. Proven experience in heavy haulage, transport, logistics, or civil construction operations. Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience. Sound knowledge of NHVR regulations and Chain of Responsibility requirements. Experience coordinating oversized and over mass transport operations. Current unrestricted driver's licence. Strong computer skills including our cloud-based transport management system and Microsoft Office.
