With a team of highly experienced specialists, FGC Consulting provides consulting services such as grid connection support, asset modelling and simulations, feasibility studies, grid compliance assessment, commissioning support and compliance testing. Our experts have hands-on experience delivering projects from concept planning to commissioning to grid compliance monitoring phase. We have an expanding client base requiring services demanding high levels of power system modelling capability and are looking for new employees who can fulfil that requirement. We are looking for a senior power system engineer (5-10 years experience) located in Perth, WA with industry-based grid connection experience. The Senior Power System Engineer will be responsible for day-to-day tasks associated with power system modelling, power system studies and electrical engineering calculations for power generation, transmission and distribution systems.Studies include: Model preparation and validation;Grid connection assessment (generator performance standards and load performance standards);Motor starting and transformer inrush studies;Network transient simulation studies;Islanding and under-frequency load shedding studies;Network event modelling and investigations;Insulation coordination studies;System strength analysis;Plant compliance through site testing;Compliance monitoring plans. The qualifications and experience we are looking for includes:Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or related fieldEligibility for inclusion on the National Engineering Register (NER)Experience in the renewable energy sector, oil & gas, mining industries or utilitiesExperience in electric power system modelling, simulations and analysisExperience in electrical engineering calculations and design-related studiesKnowledge of grid technical rules, procedures and guidelines across AustraliaKnowledge of relevant AS/NZS and IEC/ANSI/IEEE standardsProficiency with the power systems software such as PowerFactory, PSCAD, ETAP, PSSE, PSS SINCAL, PTW, and power quality monitoring related softwareProficiency in automating data analysis and visualisation and power system software, using programming languages such as Python, Fortran, T-SQL and Visual Basic for ApplicationsProven experience in professional report writing and technical documentationExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work independently and remotely We have a supportive culture that supports accelerated learning, efficiencies through automation , shared experiences and increased knowledge and understanding of solutions.Do you have an inquiring mind that wants to explore, test limits, develop new solutions and efficiencies for the future electricity network?
