Underground Geotechnical Engineer (Eloise Copper Mine) About Us: AIC Mines is entering an exciting period of growth across our North West Queensland operations, with Jericho Mine staging into production over the coming months. As we ramp up activity and prepare for this next stage, we are looking for an experienced and motivated Underground Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing copper business. Located near Cloncurry in North West Queensland, Eloise Copper Mine is an established underground operation producing high-grade copper concentrate. Together with Jericho staging into production, Eloise forms an important part of AIC Mines’ growth strategy and offers the opportunity to join a strong operational team focused on safety, teamwork, performance, and continuous improvement. About the position: We are seeking an experienced Underground Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Eloise Copper Mine. In this role, you will be responsible for providing geotechnical support to underground operations, helping to ensure safe, stable and efficient mine development and production activities across Eloise and Jericho. Key responsibilities include: Integrating geotechnical input into mine design, production sequencing and infrastructure excavations to support reliable production access. Upholding ground control standards by implementing sequencing guidelines and evaluating ground performance. Maintaining effective communication with employees, contractors and key stakeholders to support safety and statutory compliance. Using appropriate engineering tools for geotechnical data analysis, classification and design. Completing daily geotechnical tasks, including monitoring, analysis, inspections and reporting. Processing, analysing and reporting seismic data. Providing geotechnical input for mine design, scheduling and compliance. Designing, monitoring and supporting ground control systems, including geotechnical mapping and hazard reporting. Applying practical knowledge of rock mechanics and mining engineering to operational challenges. Supporting safe and efficient underground development as Jericho stages into production. This position is offered on an 8/6 roster from Townsville and Brisbane. Accommodation is provided onsite at the Eloise Copper Mine, located 65km from Cloncurry. Local candidates from Cloncurry or surrounding communities can commute by bus from Cloncurry and are encouraged to apply. About You: You will bring practical underground geotechnical experience, strong technical capability and a commitment to supporting safe and productive mining operations. To be successful in this role, you will have: Degree qualified in Geotechnical, Civil or Mining Engineering. 3 years of experience in geotechnical engineering in underground metalliferous mining. Proficient in IMS and geotechnical software packages. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. A commitment to safety and environmental stewardship. Manual QLD driver’s license. Hold a high regard for safety by following safe working practices.
