Duties (Cook): Examining foodstuffs to ensure quality Regulating temperatures of cooking equipment Preparing and cooking food Seasoning food during cooking Portioning food, placing it on plates, and adding gravies, sauces and garnishes Storing food in temperature controlled facilities Preparing food to meet special dietary requirements May plan menus and estimate food requirements May train other kitchen staff and apprentices Skills and experience required Minimum Completion of Certificate IV in Commercial Cookery field, or equivalent Minimum one year of relevant work experience as a Cook Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen Availability to work a rotating roster including weekends Good communication and teamwork skills to support smooth kitchen operations Strong attention to detail in food preparation, presentation, and portion control
