To 2025, HPPL has significantly invested in its energy business Hancock Energy has a Max Term opportunity until 2028 for a Civil Structural Engineer to join a growing team supporting onshore oil and gas projects throughout Western Australia. This opportunity is within the Projects team based onshore in West PerthThe Civil / Structural Engineer provides client-side engineering support and technical assurance for our Gas Plant Project, with a focus on Early Works and Non-Process Infrastructure (NPI) to support construction readiness and project schedule delivery.The role supports civil and structural engineering activities from detailed engineering through procurement, construction, commissioning, and handover, ensuring designs and deliverables are practical, fit for purpose, and aligned with project requirements.The role also requires supporting additional assigned scopes as needed to assist project delivery, including civil and structural engineering review and assurance across the broader Gas Plant development. This includes the Central Processing Facility (CPF), hubs, well pads, and associated infrastructure, as required. Key ResponsibilitiesEarly Works, NPI and Construction SupportProvide civil and structural engineering support for Early Works, NPI, and construction activities to achieve project milestones and schedule objectives.Provide civil and structural engineering review and technical assurance throughout design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases.Support the review, release, and handover of engineering deliverables required to enable procurement, construction, commissioning, and start-up activities.Coordinate engineering activities with construction requirements, site constraints, procurement schedules, contractor work plans, and project execution strategies to support construction readiness.Participate in constructability reviews, construction readiness reviews, and risk assessments, identifying technical risks, design gaps, interface issues, and construction constraints and supporting practical, safe, and cost-effective engineering solutions.Participate in design reviews, constructability reviews, risk assessments, and Management of Change processes, identifying technical risks, design gaps, and interface issues and supporting their resolution.Provide technical input into construction methodologies, temporary works, lift plans, construction staging, and field execution strategies where required.Provide construction support through site inspections, RFIs, technical queries, field changes, design clarifications, and technical reviews.Support construction quality processes through review of construction methodologies, ITPs, inspection records, test certificates, quality documentation, and non-conformance reports.Support resolution of construction issues and non-conformances, including assessment of design intent, field modifications, temporary works, remediation proposals, and management of change requirements.Support coordination between engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning teams to facilitate timely resolution of technical issues and maintain project delivery objectives.Provide civil and structural engineering input during commissioning, start-up, and project handover activities. To be successful in this role, you will need:Minimum of 10 years in Civil & Structural engineering experience, preferably including major Oil and Gas Projects.Expert knowledge of Australian standards, industry codes and legislation. AS1170, AS4100, AS3600, AS2159, and AS/NZS 5100.Demonstrated experience supporting detailed engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project delivery activities for major gas or energy projects.Experience working in EPC, EPCM, or client-side project delivery environments.Good knowledge of engineering management and application to major projectsSuitable qualifications in Civil and Structural engineering,Design Skills and knowledgeExtensive knowledge of the engineering industry and Australian Standards, codes, legislation and structural/civil specificationsStrong analytical skillsTeam player, flexible and adaptable to changing needs and demandsMotivated and driven, good time management and adherence to agreed schedules and timeframesA strong work ethic, self-starter and ability to relate well to both work colleagues within a team environment and external parties.
